Royal Taj: Experience Authentic Indian Cuisine in Columbia, MD

My family has visited this restaurant multiple times over the last year and this has to be one of most consistent restaurants in Maryland. Food, service, atmosphere, cleanliness, etc. are all top notch. I noticed a previous comment regarding service and want to clarify that the staff works in a team/group format so you are free to ask anyone for anything as it truly appears to be an all hands on deck situation. They all will stop by your table to check on you and are happy to fulfill requests. The food quality is great. No matter what you order, it is cooked perfectly well. I have had nothing but top tier, quality experiences and would recommend this place to anyone. Enjoy!

My friends from Bengaluru recommended this restaurant. We came for my husband's birthday but he is low key and doesn't like all the attention. My husband and I loved the food and all the staff were so friendly, helpful and professional. Customer service was top notch and they went above and beyond to make sure our experience was amazing. The interior decor is beautiful and so clean. The food was delicious. Highly recommend to everyone if you want authentic Indian food in Maryland. We will definitely be coming back. I can't remember our waiter's name but he did a phenomenal job.

This is my favorite restaurant in the world. I worked in columbia for a decade and the lunch buffet here was a regular stop for my lunch crew. Even at the old location where we had to lineup before they opened. The food is consistently amazing and the service even better. Every time we went the owner/manager/host (no idea, but he is always there) ensured we had an amazing experience and expressed gratitude towards us. I went this week and he is still there and the experience is the same. Every server is attentive, your water glass will never be empty. I couldn't recommend this place enough, if you're in the DMV make this a priority destination.

My better half and I have been coming to this restaurant since 2013. We still remember their original, smaller location, and it’s been such a joy watching them grow into the beautiful space they have today. They truly deserve their success! One of the prettiest restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food is amazing and so is the service. I will say my only complaint is that even with a reservation you will have to wait to be seated.

My girlfriends and I spent our lunch date, celebrating a babyshower at Royal Taj in Columbia, and wow!!!everything was absolutely fabulous. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The ambiance was warm and elegant, the kind that instantly elevates your mood. The decor is rich, luxurious, and beautifully designed, truly giving the entire place a high-scale, royal feel. The food was incredibly delicious. Everything was full of flavor, perfectly prepared, and presented with care. Every bite felt like a treat, and we enjoyed every moment of it. What made our experience even more special was the exceptional service. The entire staff was attentive, kind, and welcoming, but i especially want to thank Binda, who treated us like true royalty. His warmth, kindness and professionalism added something unforgettable to my afternoon. I will remember his kindness forever The girls and I had an awesome time, filled with laughter, good conversation, and an atmosphere that made everything feel extra special. Wow! We had three adults and two children on a Wednesday night and the place was packed (we did call ahead about an hour earlier and book a table after seeing the recommendation to reserve a table). The service is incredible. Drinks are refilled quickly, the food is served surprisingly fast but tastes freshly prepared, and the taste of everything was amazing. I love Indian food and this was definitely some of the best. When they boxed up leftovers they gave us extra rice and brought out a dessert on the house. Managers and staff alike checked to make sure we had everything we needed without being over the top in asking. Would definitely recommend and will go back anytime I’m nearby, which won’t be often enough since I do not live in this area.

I’ve always heard amazing things about Royal Taj, I’m so glad we were finally able to try it. For an appetizer we tried the goat cheese naan and the lamb naan and both were incredible. The best naan we’ve ever hand. For entrees I got Chicken Vindaloo at a 9/10 heat level, and my wife got the Lamb Rogan Josh. They did actually make it very spicy for me which I really enjoyed. It wasn’t the best Vindaloo I’ve ever had, but still very good. The service and atmosphere are both top notch, and I would definitely recommend trying it out if you haven’t.
